AV Facilities: technical details

Overview of Audio Visual Facilities

The modern Audio-Visual Facilities see the switch to digital technology whilst still leaving legacy connections for compatibility. Use of all equipment is included in the hire charges and the hirer will be briefed in its use.

Please note that the A/V system has been designed and set up to make full use of all audio visual facilities offered and listed below, and any connection to it may only be made using the approved methods which include wireless technologies or stage-front sockets as directed and which are designed for the specific purpose intended.

Apple products often use connectors or protocols which are not widely used elsewhere and therefore often need adaptors. However, it is strongly recommended not to use these since problems of compatibility have arisen.  The choices for hirers therefore, are as follows:

Either: 1. To book and use the new Village Hall Windows 11 laptop which ensures proven electrical, electronic, software and Projector compatibility.

Or  2. To use a short range wireless solution i e. Miracast for Video and Sound, or Bluetooth for sound only.

In the case of 1:

An Apple ‘Keynote’ presentation may be ‘Exported’ as a Powerpoint file and brought on a memory stick or an SD card.

In the case of 2:

Apple devices are not compatible with Miracast but most modern devices including Android, support Bluetooth.
