Accessibility

We take issues of accessibility of the Cerne Abbas Village Hall to individuals or groups extremely seriously

External

  • Disabled Parking spaces – immediately adjacent to the Village Hall main entrance
  • Main Entrance – shallow approach slope, double doors, lit and easily visible
  • Disabled Access – wide and level entrances
  • Outdoor Social Areas – level and safe with wide access and bordered with fencing
  • Automatic Outside Lighting

Internal

  • Internal Doorways – all wide, main traffic areas have wheelchair-friendly double doors
  • Disabled Toilets – clearly signed, brightly lit and ventilated
  • Unisex baby changing facilities
  • Emergency Exits – wide and level, fully signed and lit, leading in all cases to paved exit routes from the site to a marked public mustering area opposite the Village Hall
  • Emergency Exit Plans showing Routes, Extinguishers and Muster areas are clearly displayed throughout the building

Special Provisions

  • Bright Hall Lights in the Main Hall for the sight-impaired when required. They are dimmable for the photosensitive
  • Main Hall screen – large area, bright back projection
  • Large Stage – viewable from all locations in the Main Hall
  • Clip-on microphones in the Main Hall for use with a modern audio-visual system
  • Hearing loops installed and ample amplification in both the Main Hall and the Jubilee Meeting Room, the latter also benefiting from an ambient microphone.
